At its June 5 meeting, the Board of Education named Shelly Watson principal of Green Elementary and Karen Hamilton a Senior Director for Counseling and Student Services.
Watson has served as assistant principal of Green Elementary since 2006. Prior to that, she served as assistant principal at Yates Mill Elementary, Weatherstone Elementary and Durant Road Elementary. She was a teacher at Hilburn Road Elementary and Davis Drive Elementary. She earned National Board certification in 2000.
Hamilton has served as principal of Longview School since 1998. Prior to that, she served in WCPSS Special Education Services as a senior director, program specialist and BED case manager. She was a teacher in Fayetteville, NC and Bethlehem, PA.
The board named assistant principals including David Ashley Cooper at Carver Elementary, Carmen Graf and Wenitra Merritt at East Garner Elementary, Damian Powell at Millbrook High and Lisa Reid as 50 percent assistant principal and 50 percent Dean of Students at the Wake Early College of Health and Sciences.
