The Community Services Department has released the spring/summer 2007 edition of the Summershine directory of camps, activities, daycare and track out programs for children. You can download it online here, or grab an insert from today's News and Observer. The programs are not part of the Wake County Public School System; the information is provided as a resource for parents without endorsement or representation regarding the nature or quality of the services or activities promoted. No tax dollars were used for the publication.
The Community Services department focuses on providing services to the community that are normally outside of the standard mission of Public Education. They operate the Community Schools program, which strives to meet the needs of each community at the neighborhood level by facilitating educational, recreational, cultural, civic, and social programs designed for all age groups. Community Schools manages public use of school facilities during non-school hours, and provides lifelong educational opportunities in both traditional settings and through online learning.
