The AP Calculus and AP Statistics testing is just around the corner, taking place the first week of May with End-of-Course Math testing following shortly thereafter. The Wake County Public School System created a unique set of instructional videos entitled "The Success Series." Taught by experienced WCPSS high school mathematics teachers, the "Success Series" is available to all WCPSS high school students, online and on DVD, for content review of AP Calculus and AP Statistics as well as Geometry I and Algebra I End of Course tests.
"With more than 8 hours of math instruction available with a click of a mouse, students may review for their examinations at home, at school or if they contact their teacher, they may borrow the DVDs to watch at home," said Athena Kellogg, WCPSS senior administrator for high school mathematics. "It is an excellent vehicle to support the review conducted by our high school math teachers throughout the county. Students can review at their own pace and study just one topic or virtually the entire course."
Last year, more than 6,000 individual lesson segments were downloaded or viewed online as students from across the county prepared for these final examinations. Every WCPSS high school has sets of the DVDs. Interested students should contact their math teachers or, to view the Success Series instructional videos, visit www.wcpss.net/success-series/.
