Mission Statement

  • Play. Passion. Purpose. Wiley International Studies Magnet Elementary School staff embraces Tony Wagner’s principles as we focus on guiding our students to fulfill our mission and vision. While we strive to educate the whole child in partnership with family and community, one goal is to instill the joy of learning as students become interdependent lifelong learners. Mission Statement: The Wiley International Studies Magnet Elementary School community empowers innovative learners who explore and enhance our changing world. Vision Statement: Wiley International Studies Magnet Elementary School is an international community that encourages high acheivement, global citizenship, appreciation of diversity, and an understanding of world cultures.

Awards

  • Wiley continues to celebrate and honor the accomplishments of the school community through various honors and awards. Wiley received the following awards and honors in 2014:
    • 2014 MSA School of Distinction
    • Chris Hahner, a third grade teacher, was named as a finalist for Wake County Public School System’s Teacher of the Year
    • A Fifth Grade student was recognized as a Wake County Public School System’s ‘Spotlight on Students’ recipient for demonstrating persistence and motivation in the face of adversity
    • Students were recognized for participation and excellence in Science Olympiad and Scholastic Pursuit.

    In 2012-13:
    • Our German teacher received nomination for the National American Association of Teachers of German award
    • Diane Owens Jones, a first grade teacher, was named as a finalist for the district’s distinction as Teacher of the Year
    • Exemplar Level for its Positive Behavior Intervention Support Program by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction
