  • Welcome to the Career Development Center at North Wake College and Career Academy. Our center provides comprehensive programs, activities, and services that assist students in preparing for college and career success.


    9th Grade Career Development Competencies

    Activities introduce students to career options in their respective program area. Students explore career options to provide motivation and informed decision-making in high school and post-secondary education. Employability skills are developed to enhance both classroom and workplace environments.

    Learning Outcome: Student is able to identify different career pathways in their chosen career field.


    10th Grade Career Development Competencies

    Activities provide students with a deeper understanding of the workplace. Students explore and refine areas of interest and prepare for higher intensity work-based learning experiences through interactions (Job Shadowing) with business partners that include learning about the skills necessary for internships.

    Learning Outcome: Student is able to give examples of how their skills and interests relate to their chosen career field occupations.


    11th Grade Career Development Competencies

    Activities help the students to develop the skills needed for college and career readiness. The student applies learning through practical experience (135-hour summer internship) and interactions with professionals from industry.

    Learning Outcome: Students are able to work with diverse teams and collaborate effectively with colleagues and customers.


    12th Grade Career Development Competencies

    Activities help the students to apply the skills needed for college and career readiness for entry-level employment.

    Learning Outcome: Students are able to work with diverse teams and collaborate effectively with colleagues and customers, and have earned career credentials for success after high school
