  • I am Heather Boulware and am thrilled to be joining the RBMS "tigeriffic" team!  I will be teaching 7th grade math.  Born and raised in Maine, my family relocated to the Raleigh area thirteen years ago.  I am a master's teacher with degrees in Architectural Engineering Technology, American Studies and Education.  I have spent the previous 13 years teaching elementary and middle school in Johnston County.  I am certified K-6 Elementary, 6-9 Math, K-12 EC, and K-12 AIG.

I am a newlywed!  I married my best friend, John, in April.  Together, we share 6 children.  Three girls and three boys with ages ranging from 8 to 19.  (#bradybunch) We live in Wendell and have 6 fur babies - a dog, cat, and 4 baby goats.

When not at school, I enjoy reading, listening to live music, target shooting, attending shows at the theater (#phantomoftheoperarocks), beach outings, and camping!  I do have a slight obsession with elephants and dream of visiting an elephant sanctuary someday!

I am excited to meet my students, parents, and colleagues!  A brand new school and a new school year holds so much promise and I am honored to embark on this journey with you!

  • Turner pic

  • Hello all!  My name is Les Turner and I am beyond excited to serve as YOUR River Bend Middle School Band Director.  I earned my music degrees from UNCW and Appalachian State University (both ends of the State!).  I have been teaching in Wake County for over 10 years now with 14 years total as a band director.   Most recently I have been the Director of Bands at Rolesville High School, just up the road, and I am looking forward to helping all of my future students continue their musical career into the high school setting after RBMS.

I have the very best career possible, helping students find their full potential through music. Just you wait until you hear that first concert!!!  I enjoy all types of music and strive to bring as many different genres into my classroom as possible.  I also love to travel with my students and share our music with as many people as we can.  Many of my students have performed well enough to advance to district and state level band events.  I know that my future River Bend students will do the same.  I am looking forward to starting up our very own music family at RBMS and learning as much from my students as they learn from me!

  • I am Renee Manneh a wife, a mother of a rising Kindergartner and a School Social Worker.

I have been fortunate to work with students and families in our community as well in the classroom for over 15 years.  I taught middle school Health and PE and coached softball for several years in Wake County.  I am also a graduate of the Wake County School System.  Several years ago- I left teaching to serve in the US Peace Corps and I served as a Community Health Volunteer in Uganda for 2 years where I helped run a youth center.  After my Peace Corps service, I decided to make the transition from the classroom to being a School Social Worker so I could make a bigger impact on student lives.

I believe that ALL students can learn and achieve SUCCESS- we just have to help them tap into that GREATNESS that is within them. In order to help students tap into that success, I may have to link families to community referrals, assist with engaging parents into the school, make home visits, make sure students have basic needs and conduct difficult conversations with families, students and staff.  It may not be the most glamorous job, but to me- it's all worth it!

I look forward to joining the River Bend Middle School family to support our students, their families and the staff.  My door will always be open.

  • Hi Tigers!

Though I am originally from Utica, NY, I have lived in North Carolina since 1995 with my husband Joey. Our three children, ages 14, 16 and 18 were all born in Morehead City. We moved to Raleigh 11 years ago and love it. The Shealey's are NC State fans through and through, though we may need to root for the ECU Pirates every now and then as our daughter starts school there this fall. The two youngest Shealey's attend Millbrook High School.

I am a returned Peace Corps Volunteer, having served as an ESL teacher on the island of Pohnpei in The Federated States of Micronesia. I received my teaching degree from Columbia University's, Teacher's College in NYC. I  have taught in NYC, Portsmouth, Va, Newport, NC and Raleigh. For the last three years I have taught both math and Special Ed at Durant Road Middle School. I am very excited to begin life as a 7th grade Math teacher at Tiger at River Bend.

I love dogs, all of them, anywhere I see one. I enjoy camping, hiking, dancing and reading when I can manage free time!

  • My name is Kristen Davies and I will be teaching 7th grade social studies. I am extremely excited to be a Tiger and part of this new community at River Bend. I have been teaching in Wake County for fifteen years at both traditional and year round schools. I am finishing up my current school year at Rolesville Middle School and am looking forward to a longer summer with the move back to a traditional calendar. I am originally from Michigan and have a B.A. in psychology from Michigan State University. After moving to North Carolina, I decided to pursue a career in education and got my M.Ed from NC State University. I am married to a Raleigh firefighter and have two teenage sons who both attend Heritage High School and keep me very busy. If I am not cooking, gardening, or at the pool you will probably find me at a lacrosse tournament!  I am looking forward to a great year at a great new school!
