Volunteer with the PTA
We need YOU! Ever heard the saying "many hands make light work?" Did you know that over half our executive PTA board has a job outside the home? One of them even travels two weeks out of every month. There are MANY opportunities for you to get involved and it doesn't have to be a huge committment.
VP, Fundraising: An Executive Board opportunity to oversee all Fundraising activities
Financial Secretary: Assist the Treasurer and train to be our next Treasurer. Duties include picking up money from school and making deposits to PTA account (knowledge of Quick Books is a plus).
Out to Eat Nights: Organize nights with restaurants/businesses where a portion of sales will be donated back to York (typically 6-8 nights a year). Make and copy fliers to send home.
Sportswear: Organize sportswear sales during the year, including working with suppliers to get sportswear, tracking/fulfilling order and sell sportswear at PTA events (as needed).
Refreshment/Snack Sales: Work with different committees to set up refreshments and snack sales at different events (Bingo Night, Sock Hop, Spring Carnival, STEM Night, etc)
STEM Night Hospitality: Organize food for STEM Night Volunteers (NC State Engineering students) for October 13
Sock Hop: York's annual school dance held in Feb or March. Organize music (we have a DJ so you just handle logistics), make and send home fliers, decorate gym and coordinate volunteers.
Photography Release Coordinator: Partner with office staff to collect photography release forms from students and coordinate with photographer/social media committee to verfiy photos for publication
Community Volunteer Coordinator: Contact local communities around York (Brookhaven, etc) to gather a list of volunteers for at school events, such as EOG proctors, reading in the classroom, etc.
Spring Carnival: While the Executive Board helps with the Carnival (May 6), we have several opportunities including: publicity, food truck coordinators, inflatables, silent auction, 50/50 raffle
