Ms. Patricia McManus
Ms. McManus is a proud North Carolina native born and raised in Hamlet, NC along with her 5 brothers and sisters. She comes from a large and encouraging family of teachers. Ms. McManus, along with her identical twin sister, decided to become a teacher when she was in the 3rd grade. She credits this decision to her teacher Mrs. Swanson who inspired and challenged her. When she shared the desire to teach with her parents and grandmother, they encouraged her to spend her summers developing her teaching skills on the visiting cousins and younger siblings at Grandma’s house. What began as story time that first summer became a half day program complete with lessons, teacher made worksheets, lunch, recess, and homework over the following summers. She graduated from Mars Hill College, now Mars Hill University, in Mars Hill, NC with a Bachelor of Science. She then went on to receive her Educator’s Licensure from North Carolina Central University. Ms. McManus began her teaching career in Granville County before moving on to Vance and Wake County Schools. She draws from her many years of experience to foster a nurturing yet challenging classroom. She describes her teaching style as a combination of traditional and 21st century learning techniques. Her motto is, “Just add a pinch of creativity, a dash of imagination, and a splash of fun, to make the perfect recipe for success”.
