Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Robin Dotson
I have been a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) since 1982, after getting my Masters Degree from Marshall University in Huntington, WV. I am married to Jerry Dotson, a computer skills and gaming design teacher at Cary High School. He is also the Cross Country and Track Coach. We moved to Cary from WV in 1988 because we felt this area would a good place to raise our two daughters, and have never regretted our decision. When we first moved here, I took a position as a teacher in a self-contained Language Impaired Level I (K-2) program- I thought for just one year, but I ended up doing it for 9! From there I moved to a Level II (3-5) LI classroom, which I taught for 6 years until the county decided to close the program. At this time, I moved back into an itinerant SLP position, but with a new perspective on how to work with my students. I am passionate about integrating the curriculum with my therapy, especially for my students with language disorders. When I am not creating teaching materials and activities, I am usually crafting items for my "second job"- designing and making lighted shadow boxes. Whenever we can, my husband and I visit our daughters, now grown and married. One lives in Wilmington, NC, and the other in Delray Beach, FL. Instead of children, we have two dogs that keep us busy and laughing.
