OVES carpool procedures have changed this year in order to maximize instructional time and keep students safe when arriving and leaving school. Students should arrive between 8:45 a.m. - 9:10 a.m. to ensure that they are in their classroom by 9:15 a.m. At 9:10a.m., a bell will ring letting staff members know that students have 5 minutes to get to class.  The cafeteria doors will close at this time and you will need to park your car and walk your child into the school.

Below are some procedures and helpful tips to remember when dropping off and picking up students:

Please make sure you pick up your new carpool tags.
During pickup, display your carpool tag on your rear view mirror. Leave your number displayed until you have your student.
Encourage & assist your child in learning his/her carpool number.
Stay in line behind the car in front of you.
Please refrain from using your cell phone for the safety of all students.
All students should be dropped off at the circular drive to the right of the main entrance of the building at 8:45 a.m. -9:10 a.m.
Students arriving at the 9:15 a.m. bell will be marked tardy.  Parents will need to walk their child into school to sign them in.
The entrance to the left of the building is reserved for those riding the bus and vans only.  Walkers are met by an approved adult along the sidewalk of the bus loop.  Please do not use this area to drop off a child.
Dismissal will begin at 3:40 p.m. from the classroom.  Students are notified when to dismiss from their classrooms and will walk to their designated OWL pick-up point.
Should your mode of transportation change, notify the Office at 919.694.8885 as well as the teacher.
Normally, Carpool ends around 4:00 p.m. and remaining students will be taken to the office and the parent will be contacted. (Patience is appreciated at the start of school for students and Kindergarten).
In an event that someone without a carpool tag will be picking up your child, they will have to present proper identification and be listed on the Student Locator Card held in the Office.  Please be sure to call the Hoot Hut at 919.694.8885 with any changes.

We appreciate your patience as we continue to provide a safe and orderly carpool process.

    Sincerely,

Mr. Moore, Ms. Warkonyi, Mr. Culp, and the Hoot Hut!
