The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education. - Martin Luther King, Jr.

I am Tanisha Phipps. I was born and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I knew from as early as nine (9) years old that I wanted to become a teacher. I always enjoyed learning and was inspired by my third grade teacher to pursue this career path. Teaching is my passion, this is what I truly love.

I taught nine years in Jamaica and just started my third year teaching in North Carolina. I pursued a Diploma in Elementary Education at a teachers’ college in Jamaica. I then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Education degree (Summa Cum Laude) at Western Carolina University. With a drive for excellence and a thirst for knowledge, I later pursued a Master’s of Science degree at Central Connecticut State University. I strongly believe that a nation without education is like a tree without roots.

My students are my first professional priority. With the understanding that their success is crucial for a better tomorrow, I have always committed myself to serve with excellence.

I am delighted to be a member of the Walnut Creek family and look forward to a successful year at The Creek.
