Drug Abuse/Prevention
Efforts to reduce drug abuse in our youth are coordinated through the Department of Guidance and Social Work. At each high school, a Student Assistance Program Coordinator is responsible for counseling, consultation, and prevention activities in this area. These individuals work in the guidance departments of each school and help children who are at risk of involvement in drugs or who are actively involved in this destructive behavior.
A list of Student Assistance Program Coordinators follows. Parents are encouraged to contact those individuals if they have questions or concerns.
Drug abuse prevention at the elementary and middle school levels is often coordinated through the school counselors with the assistance of Wake County Human Services.
