The Global Communications Program at Conn Elementary provides students the tools/opportunities to succeed in an increasingly diverse and interdependent community. Conn is designed to meet the educational needs of all children through regular and elective classes. Students begin with a Family Plan where they have the same teacher for kindergarten and first grade. They continue into second grade with an individualized language and math assessment plan, and culminate in third, fourth, and fifth grades with stimulating learning that uses hands-on experiences and experience-based learning as a prime medium to integrate all areas of the curriculum.

A key focus for student learning is the use of technology as an effective and efficient tool to weave all content areas together. All grades have Technology Connection classrooms. To better enable teachers to customize according to the learning needs and styles of children, the school is in the process of reducing class size to 18-20 students per class.

The program provides an instructional environment that will better prepare the individual child to succeed in an interconnected and interdependent world. Global elective courses including visual arts, the performing arts, French and Spanish provide a variety of enriching opportunities for our students. Project-based learning, collaborative instruction, urban partnerships, and global telecommunications are valued at Conn. A strong partnership between the school, families, and community will better ensure the future success of all children.
