Superintendent's Message
![]() Superintendent William R. (Bill) McNeal |
There can be no doubt that we are succeeding; that we are an excellent school system. We are proud of our accomplishments as a system and the success of our students. We appreciate all that you have done to contribute to that success.
But we will not be satisfied until each child, every child, has an equal chance to succeed. We strive to create a learning community in which no student is left behind.
Thank you the time, energy, and talent you invest to promote success for all Wake County students. Through a team effort we will achieve our mission and goal.
WCPSS School Board Mission |
WCPSS Goal |
| The Wake County Public School System will educate each student to become a responsible and productive citizen. | By 2003, 95% of all students tested will be at or above grade level as measured by NC End-of-Grade testing at grades 3 and 8. |
The Wake County Board of Education has set a high standard for us as we march toward that goal.
Excerpts from The Board of Education Code of Ethics |
| All school system employees hold positions of public trust; they are responsible for the education of students and also serve as examples and role models to students...The highest standards of honesty, integrity, and fairness must be exhibited by each employee...An unswerving commitment to honorable behavior by each and every employee is expected...Employees shall perform their jobs in a competent and ethical manner. |
I am proud of the excellent team of dedicated employees all working to achieve our goal and mission. Working together we have accomplished great things for our students -- but the work is unfinished. We will continue to challenge each one of them to higher levels of achievement, rededicating ourselves to providing the resources and tools necessary to close the achievement gap between each student's accomplishments and each student's potential.
I appreciate all that each of you has done and will do to contribute to the success of each child. Working together, we will achieve our 95 percent goal. We will make a tremendous difference in the lives of our students and in our community's quality of life. Our students are a living message we send to a time we will not see. Let's make it a positive message!
