Please have your child at his/her assigned stop at least 10-15 minutes prior to the scheduled arrival time of your bus.
Some of the criteria used to establish or assign bus stop are:
- Bus stops are placed no closer than two-tenths of a mile apart unless safety hazards exist.
- Buses are routed on state-maintained roads only.
- Buses are generally prohibited from traveling into cul-de-sacs.
- Generally, bus stops are placed on corners.
- Recommended walking distances to a bus stop for students:
- Elementary student – three-tenths of a mile;
- Middle and high student – five-tenths of a mile.
If you feel your child’s bus stop does not meet the above criteria, you may request a bus stop change by completing the Transportation Service Request Form located at your child’s school or on our website.
In the interest of safety, we encourage you to be present at your child’s bus stop during the morning and afternoon. Bus drivers will not discharge a kindergarten or first-grade student at a stop unless a responsible person is present at the stop.
As the new school year approaches and after it has begun, it may become more difficult to speak with a live person at your transportation district. If you have questions or need assistance, please call as soon as possible.
