Cómo trabajar con el maestro de su hijo(a)

There are important steps that parents and teachers can take to benefit children. At the first of the year, it is important for parents and teachers to get to know each other. Schools often facilitate this with Meet the Teacher sessions in elementary and middle schools. The first week of school many teachers explain their expectations for the child's work and classroom behavior, as well as the consequences of not complying with these rules. If parents make sure their child understands the guidelines early, this helps the child, teacher and class get off to a good start. Early discussions with teachers give parents an opportunity to provide helpful information about their child. This is the time for the parent to assure the teacher of their support and cooperation and for the teacher to assure the parent of their interest in the child. Building successful parent/teacher relationships take time and commitment. Together they can work to support a child's success.

Existen algunos pasos importantes que los padres de familia y los maestros pueden tomar para beneficiar a los alumnos. Al inicio del año, es importante que los padres de familia y los maestros se conozcan. A menudo las escuelas facilitan este proceso con sesiones específicas para conocer a los maestros en las escuelas primaria y secundaria. Durante la primera semana de escuela varios maestros explican sus expectativas para el trabajo del alumno y su comportamiento en la sala de clases, así como las consecuencias de no cumplir con estas reglas. Si los padres se aseguran con anticipación de que su hijo(a) entiende las normas, ayudan al alumno, al maestro y a la clase a tener un buen inicio. Las pláticas anticipadas con los maestros dan a los padres la oportunidad de proporcionar información útil sobre su hijo(a). Éste es el momento para que el padre le confirme al maestro su apoyo y colaboración y para que el maestro le confirme al padre su interés en el niño(a). Construir relaciones exitosas entre padres y maestros requiere de tiempo y compromiso. Juntos, pueden trabajar para apoyar el éxito de un alumno.
