What academic and other elective courses will Holly Springs High offer during the 2006-07 school year?

The administrative team from Holly Springs High will review several factors to determine which academic and elective courses to offer our students during the 2006-07 school year. These factors are as follows:

My understanding is that an elementary school will be housed in the building. How will this work?

Yes. Holly Grove Elementary, a new year-round elementary school will be housed in one wing of Holly Springs High during the 2006-07 school year. The principals from both schools will be working very closely together to determine the best procedures to eliminate any type of interactions between elementary and high school students. A similar concept has worked well for over 10 years in the Leesville schools (housing the high school, middle school and elementary school in one large complex). After the 2006-07 school year, Holly Grove Elementary will move to its new facility which will be located on the corner of Avent Ferry Road and Cass Holt Road.

Students, parents, faculty and staff from both schools - Holly Springs High and Holly Grove Elementary - will receive clear expectations related to these procedures. This will be reviewed with the students by the high school and elementary school administration and consequences will be consistently enforced if students are in violation of this expectation/policy.

What other measures are the schools using to ensure safety on the campus?

Unlike most WCPSS high schools, Holly Springs High will have two school resource officers on site during the instructional day. The town of Holly Springs has offered to financially compensate the school district in order to provide an additional officer on the campus. The School Resource Officers (SRO) will be trained and certified members of the Holly Springs Police Department.
