Suggestions from the Wake PTA Council
The Wake County PTA Council has offered some suggestions
for parents on student reassignment...
We live in a great county with a wonderful school system.
Dealing with the incredible growth and the pain that can come
from student reassignment is one of the challenges we have
in choosing to live here. Here are some tips for parents to
ease the process:
1) Take advantage of the comment periods, but don't take
out frustrations on the staff members who are working hard
to make this process as easy as it can be.
2) Be sure to speak positively about the school your child
may be attending. If it's a new school, there's lot's of excitement
in being in a new school. If it's an older school, there can
be blessings there as well.
3) Check out the details on existing schools through www.wcpss.net
and discover the fun things, including PTA programs such as
carnivals and bingo nights at the school, to share with your
child.
4) Take your child to visit the new school and look for things
that are welcoming and positive about it.
5) Keep visiting the www.wcpss.net Web site for updates and
be on the lookout for information from schools on visitations
and open houses.
